Jane Fonda has caused quite the stir on social media after saying she'd only take a 'lover' if they were 20 years old.
The American actor and activist may've once ended up naked with Michael Jackson in the 1980s, but she wouldn't be doing any of that now. Known for her roles in Barbarella and Monster-in-Law, Fonda is a much-loved film icon.
Earlier this year, the 85-year-old - also known for her workout videos - revealed she was giving up drinking.
She said: "It’s because even with one drink, like, if I had a martini tonight, I would be at half-mast tomorrow.
"Now, that wasn’t true when I was younger. But as you get older, I think alcohol affects you differently. And I only have so many tomorrows left. I don’t want to be at half-mast for any of them!"
And alcohol isn't the only thing she's seemingly giving up now she doesn't think she has long left to live. Well, it turns out Fonda may be giving up dating older men, people her age, or even people slightly younger.
In an interview with comedian Heather McMahan for her podcast Absolutely Not, Fonda revealed if she were to ever 'take a lover' then they'd have to be considerably younger than she is.
In a clip posted to TikTok by Dear Media yesterday (29 November), Fonda says: "I'm ashamed to say this, but if I were to take a lover, he'd have to be 20."
When McMahan questions the actor as to why, Fonda quickly responds: "Because I don't like old skin."
Cue McMahan and the production team bursting into fits of giggles, although, Fonda appears pretty serious, her face straight as she says: "I don't."
Fonda's comments have left social media users and podcast listeners divided, people flooding to the TikTok post to weigh in on whether or not they agree with Fonda's requirements for a 'lover'.
Some condemned her, one user writing: "If a man said that..."
"What about if the 20-year-old doesn't like old skin?" another added.
A third commented: "Oh that's not ---"
And a fourth wrote: I love Jane Fonda, but does she know men in their 30s and 40s don't have old skin? That don't happen till later. Same with women." A user said: "People really don't understand what a joke is! She's funny."
A second chimed: "Y'all can't understand a joke.. Geez."
A final resolved: "Please y'all, this is Jane Fonda. She's a mood."
