Elon Musk faced criticism for cautioning Taylor Swift about a potential decrease in her popularity. If you missed it, the 33-year-old pop star was announced as Time magazine's 'Person of the Year' on December 6. This noteworthy recognition places her alongside distinguished individuals such as Gandhi, Jimmy Carter, the late Pope John Paul II, Mark Zuckerberg, Barack Obama, Greta Thunberg, and the 2022 honoree, Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky.
The 'Anti Hero' singer, who attained billionaire status in 2023, expressed her excitement on Musk's social media platform X, stating, "[Journalist Sam Lansky] possesses an enchanting way with words, and I've enjoyed reading his pieces for over a decade. If you've ever been around him, you know he's just the best kind of person: Curious. Interested. Hilarious. Intriguing and intrigued."

She added, "I have trust issues when it comes to interviews, but I couldn't be more pleased that I did this one with him. I was amazed to see quotes from people I adore and admire, such as Stevie Nicks, Greta Gerwig, Shonda Rhimes, Phoebe Bridgers, Natalie Maines, Kenny Chesney, and Lucian Grainge."
"I was so delighted that he spoke to fans Madison and McCall, who were so eloquent, loyal, and kind," she mentioned, concluding with, "I'm truly reflecting on this year and all the years that led up to it. Can't express my gratitude enough times."
Initially, the Tesla owner congratulated Swift but followed up with a post stating, "There's some risk of a decline in popularity after this award. I speak from experience lol."
Congrats

The unsolicited advice from Musk, who was honored in 2021 for influencing the resolution of the world's most challenging problems, did not sit well on social media. Numerous disgruntled Swifties took to their platforms to criticize the SpaceX founder.
One user expressed, "No, you're not Taylor Swift. Your popularity declined because your own foolish decisions came to light. Taylor is a good person, and more coverage isn't a risk for her."
Another commenter was more blunt, stating, "It's because you're a loser, lmao. Miss Swift will be just fine because she's unproblematic, talented, and people actually like her. Jealous much?"
A third person remarked, "Your popularity declined because you're a bad human, not because you were (mistakenly) named Time Person of the Year."
Adding to the criticism, a fourth individual said, "Your popularity declined because you're an idiot who turned a successful company into a laughingstock. Hope this helps!"
Lastly, another contributor shared, "Taylor Swift is literally a self-made billionaire. She achieved that with talent, creativity, and hard work. Elon Musk became a billionaire through the work and ideas of others, without talent, creativity, or actual work." Unlike Musk, it is extremely improbable that the 'Love Story' sensation will experience a decline in popularity. With 17 years in the music industry, her popularity consistently reaches unprecedented heights.
The artist is set to recommence her record-breaking Eras Tour next year, covering Europe, Asia, and North America.
