Whoopi Goldberg scolds millennials who don't want to work: 'People pick it up'

"I'm sorry, if you only want to work four hours, it's going to be harder for you to get a house."
Whoopi Goldberg, who famously doesn't want somebody in her house, still has opinions on millennials who don't want to work hard for a humble abode of their own.

During a Wednesday Hot Topics discussion about current economic conditions prompting millennials to shift their perspective on the American Dream, start families, and attain affordable housing, The View moderator and EGOT-winning actress turned to the camera to scold lazy mentalities among younger generations.

"I'm sorry, you know, listen, every generation comes and wants to do better than their parents did. But, I'm sorry, if you only want to work four hours, it's going to be harder for you to get a house," the 67-year-old said. "I feel for everybody that feels this, but, I'm sorry, we busted our behinds, we had to bust our behinds, because we didn't have the option of going back. We had all kinds of stuff."

Alyssa Farah Griffin, 34, quickly replied to Goldberg, claiming that the Ghost actress' generation "gave us the housing crisis, though."
Goldberg pushed back, telling Griffin that "every generation is told you're going to do worse than your parents," before offering a bit of life advice to those who don't pull themselves up by the bootstraps.

"You know what, people pick it up, and they do what they do and they raise themselves," Goldberg said. "This is what you've got to do. It's called being a good citizen."

Kim Kardashian drew criticism for similar comments she made to Variety in 2022, when the reality TV personality responded to a question about advice for young women in the business sector.

"I have the best advice for women in business," she told the publication. "Get your f---ing ass up and work. It seems like nobody wants to work these days."
