Rockstar confirms GTA 6 trailer drops in December

Rockstar Games has officially revealed a Grand Theft Auto VI trailer is coming in December, simultaneously breaking the internet in the process.
It comes after a report from Bloomberg stated that Rockstar was planning to reveal the next instalment in the much-loved series as early as this week, according to people familiar with the game developer's plans.

People close to the project had previously said Rockstar would be releasing a trailer to mark their 25th anniversary next month, something that has now been confirmed by the company.

In a statement released on X, formerly Twitter, Rockstar's president Sam Houser said: "Next month marks the 25th anniversary of Rockstar Games. Thanks to the incredible support of our players worldwide, we have had the opportunity to create games we are truly passionate about.

"Without you, none of this would be possible, and we are so grateful to all of you for sharing this journey with us.

"In 1998, Rockstar Games was founded on the idea that video games could come to be as essential to culture as any other form of entertainment, and we hope that we have created games you love in our efforts to be part of that evolution.
"We are very excited to let you know that in early December, we will release the first trailer for the next Grand Theft Auto. We look forward to many more years of sharing these experiences with all of you."

All gamers are well aware at this point how long we have been waiting for Grand Theft Auto 6.

Rockstar Games - the developers of the famed franchise - released Grand Theft Auto V in September 2013, with the tenth anniversary of the beloved game coming earlier this year.

Since then, Rockstar has released Red Dead Redemption 2 to much critical acclaim, while also releasing remasters of some of its much-loved titles.

But GTA truly is a different juggernaut, so today's (8 November) announcement brings huge excitement across all gaming communities - and the casuals too.

The buildup to officially revealing GTA VI themselves has not exactly been a smooth one for Rockstar, with many hours of gameplay footage leaking last year.
Following the massive leak, Rockstar explained that it had been hit with a leak after a 'network intrusion', saying someone 'illegally accessed and downloaded confidential information', including footage from the development of the upcoming game.

The company said: "We are extremely disappointed to have any details of our next game shared with you all in this way.

"Our work on the next Grand Theft Auto game will continue as planned and we remain as committed as ever to delivering an experience to you, our players, that truly exceeds your expectations.

"We will update everyone again soon and, of course, will properly introduce you to this next game when it is ready. We want to thank everyone for their ongoing support in this situation."

GTA VI is said to be set in a fictional version of Miami and features two man protagonists, a man and a woman.

Grand Theft Auto was first developed as a top-down game (where the action is viewed from overhead) where players could roam around stealing cars and evading police.

However, the series came into its own with 2001's Grand Theft Auto 3. This brought the game into the 3D, open world iteration which has become so popular.
