Christina Aguilera didn’t let pouring rain stop her from putting on a showstopping performance in Melbourne on Saturday night.

In her first gig in Australia in 15 years, the singer took to the open-air stage at Flemington Racecourse to belt out her biggest hits, including Genie In A Bottle, Beautiful, Fighter and What A Girl Wants.

The 20,000-strong crowd lapped up her every note and every move, with punters in ponchos and raincoats dancing along to the big bangers.
My heart goes out to you for sticking it out in the pouring rain,” Aguilera told the crowd, as per the Herald Sun.

In her only Australian performance as part of Victoria’s 17-day music festival Always Live, the 42-year-old revealed to the crowd that the show was like a “homecoming” for her, as the last time she was here she was pregnant with her son Max, who she shares with ex-husband Jordan Bratman.
Aguilera also shares a 9-year-old daughter, Summer Rain, with her fiancé Matthew Rutler, who both accompanied her Down Under.

It appears the trio may have spent the US Thanksgiving holiday here in Australia, with Aguilera sharing footage of them visiting Victorian wildlife parks and hot springs, while also enjoying a helicopter right over the Mornington Peninsula.

“Thankful for family time,” she captioned a video montage of their trip on Instagram.

In a separate interview with news.com.au earlier this week, she reflected on her stellar career as she prepares to celebrate the 25th anniversary of her self-titled debut album next year.
Twenty-five years allows me the opportunity to reflect on the music, my growth and the amazing journey during that time of spending incredible moments with my fans worldwide,” she told us.

Of her career highlight, Aguilera says she can’t look past winning Best New Artist at the 1999 Grammy Awards, beating out the likes of pop powerhouse Britney Spears.

“There have been so many amazing moments. It’s impossible to pick only one, but since there’s nothing like the first time – I would say winning the Grammy for Best New Artist was such a thrill at the time,” Aguilera said.

“I was a newcomer and baby to the business. You can never repeat that category, so it’s one that I especially cherish.”
