I think there is one thing that is certain in life... you should never underestimate the power of the Swifties. Taylor Swift is currently embarking on her Eras Tour performing her hit tracks to sold-out stadiums across the US since March.
In June, the multi-award-winning singer surprised UK fans with international dates for her popular tour, which included shows in Edinburgh, Liverpool, Cardiff and London.
The 33-year-old has also announced further dates in South America, Asia, Australia, and Europe.
Fans of the pop star will be well aware of the mad rush that has come with obtaining tickets, with some previously claiming to have purchased gig tickets using an unknown system.
Ticketmaster famously crashed when her tickets for the tour went on sale, which of course led to tickets being resold on other sites for crazy amounts. It even led to the US Congress and President Joe Biden trying to pass laws to crack down on ticket inflation to ensure fans did not get ripped off.
Despite all that, Swift's Eras Tour has been a roaring success, perhaps evident by the amount of money it is brining in.
It is now being predicted that the tour will make a whopping $4.1 billion, which is in fact the most any artist has made from one tour in history.
Peter Cohan, an associate professor of management at Babson College, made the rather unbelievable estimate recently for The Washington Post, as Eras Tour looks to break many records.
In fact, Swift's earnings from the tour are set to be the same as 42 nations' economic output combined.
The 'Blank Space' singer has also contributed greatly to the US economy, with fans buying tickets, travel to the arenas, and merchandise being purchased before and on arrival.
It has been estimated that Swift's tour has given the US economy a $5.7 billion boost, which is in fact enough to save every American around $17. Some of Swift's higher-performing gigs recently included six shows at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, which injected a whopping $320 million into the country's economy.
Meanwhile, shows in Denver resulted in a $140 million boost to the US economy.
It was previously predicted the Eras Tour would make a grand total of $2.2 billion, with Larry Miller, director of the music business program at New York University Steinhardt, telling CNN: "We’re talking about a global pop artist who faces virtually infinite demand for those tickets."
