Chimp has emotional reunion with caretakers who saved him as a baby: 'Years may pass, but the love is always there'

Limbani is a lovable Insta-famous chimpanzee with 709,000 followers that currently lives at the Zoological Wildlife Foundation (ZWF) in Miami. The foundation was created by Mario and Maria Tabraue to educate the public on rare and endangered animals.
Limbani was initially rejected by his mother as a baby after being born with pneumonia. Tania and Jorge Sanchez became his caretakers during the first few months of his life before he was handed off to ZWF.

“Without human intervention and modern medicine he wouldn’t be here today,” ZWF told the Independent.

The couple clearly left an impression on Limbani who has never forgotten his human handlers.

“Tania and Jorge can go without seeing him for a couple months and his reaction is always the same. Limbani by far is the most loved of the entire ZWF family,” ZWF told the Independent.

In March, cameras captured what a Limbani reunion looks like. The chimpanzee was outside when Tania and Jorge had just arrived. He couldn’t contain his excitement. Limbani made joyful grunting noises as he ran straight into Tania’s arms. After hugging her, he leaped from the ground and went in for a hug with Jorge.

“Years may pass, but the love is always there,” the caption read.

The video received over 256,000 views on Instagram.

“This melts my heart!” one person wrote.

“I can’t stop watching and I can’t stop crying,” another said.

“Not going to lie I teared up at the happy grunts he makes,” a user commented.
