Robert De Niro's grandson Leandro has died

Leandro De Niro Rodriguez, the 19-year-old grandson of Robert De Niro, has passed away, as confirmed by his mother Drena De Niro.

Drena De Niro, who is 51 years old and the daughter of the renowned Hollywood actor and actress Diahnne Abbott, expressed her deep sorrow on Instagram on Sunday (July 2) with a profoundly moving message.

In a poignant social media post, the grieving mother expressed her love for her beloved son: "You were my beautiful sweet angel, and I have cherished you immeasurably since the moment I first felt you in my womb."
"You have been the source of my happiness, the essence of my heart, and everything that was ever genuine and pure in my existence. I yearn to be by your side at this very moment. I long to be with you. I cannot fathom the thought of living without you, but I will make an attempt to carry on and share the love and radiance that you infused within me while I had the privilege of being your mother," she expressed further.

The Welcome to New York actress expressed her profound love and appreciation, wishing that love alone could have been enough to save her departed loved one. "I deeply apologize, my dear baby," she conveyed.

Drena chose not to disclose further details about Leandro's passing and tagged his artist father, Carlos Mare, in her tribute. "May you rest in peace and find eternal paradise, my beloved boy," she concluded.

Many individuals offered heartfelt condolences in the comment section of Drena's post. Television personality Victoria Gotti remarked, "You were such a playful, handsome, amicable, and incredible young boy who grew into an amazing young man! May you rest, my dear boy, and I feel so blessed to have shared Thanksgiving with you."

Actress Lana Parrilla expressed, "Drena, I am deeply sorry. Sending you an immense amount of love, prayers, and strength. May God be with you and all those who love your precious boy." A supporter left a comment saying, "Oh my god, nooo! Drena, I am so, so, so sorry for your loss. I am at a loss for words. I am shocked and heartbroken for you. He was fortunate to have you as his mother, and I know he will always watch over you with immense pride in who you are."
Similar to his grandfather, who recently welcomed his seventh child with girlfriend Tiffany Chen, and his mother, the teenager pursued a career in acting. He notably appeared alongside Drena in the 2018 film A Star Is Born, portraying the son of Dave Chappelle's character, George 'Noodles' Stone, who was the best friend of Bradley Cooper's character, Jackson Maine, according to E! News.

Furthermore, Leandro had acting credits in the films The Collection (2005) and Cabaret Maxime (2018), both of which featured his mother as well.

The heartbreaking news of his passing comes more than a month after he and Drena celebrated Mother's Day together. On May 14, the actress shared an Instagram post showing the pair enjoying the holiday while watching the 1974 comedy film Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore.

Drena expressed her sentiment by writing, "A combination of Leo and Mare, a little bit of both," while sharing pictures of Leandro spending time with his father and the family dog. She also mentioned the cherished memories of her soulmate and fur baby, Daisy. "Today was a positive day," she added.

During this difficult time, our thoughts are with Leandro's family and friends.
