Bear scare: North Carolina man in shock after encounter with an equally startled bear

A man in Asheville, North Carolina had a close encounter with a bear outside his home in the Blue Ridge Mountains.

David Oppenheimer was sitting outside when his motion detector went off.

He didn’t see anything at first, but soon the bear appeared right in front of him.

A doorbell video captured the moment when they both saw each other and were startled.

Oppenheimer froze and held onto a pillow until the bear ran away.

He believes it was a young bear that had visited his home before to check out the trash cans and bird feeder.

Despite being caught off guard, Oppenheimer said the bears in the area are peaceful.
