"Thank you for all your overwhelming love, support and beautiful stories shared on these platforms over the last day. I see your messages and can't begin to express how grateful I am to have them.

"And to the thousands of Destiny players who played in special tribute to Lance, thank you. Lance loved you as much as he loved the game."

She added that fans are welcome to donate to MOMCares, an organization helping mothers and families, in Reddick's hometown of Baltimore in his memory.

The couple had been married since 2011 and Reddick leaves behind three children.

The actor, whose cause of death has not been revealed but is believed to be natural, was best known for playing Baltimore police lieutenant Cedric Daniels in The Wire, as well as starring in John Wick.

"He was the consummate professional and a joy to work with. Our love and prayers are with his wife Stephanie, his children, family, and friends. We dedicate the film to his loving memory. We will miss him dearly."
The Wire's Wendell Pierce added on Twitter: "A man of great strength and grace. As talented a musician as he was an actor. The epitome of class.

“A sudden unexpected sharp painful grief for our artistic family. An unimaginable suffering for his personal family and loved ones. Godspeed my friend. You made your mark here."
