Former 'Bachelor' Contestant Sarah Herron Loses Her Son To Premature Birth At 24 Weeks

The unthinkable happened to an expectant former reality star. Sarah Herron, best known for her stint on The Bachelor, announced via Instagram that she and fiancé Dylan Brown lost their baby boy Oliver shortly after he was born prematurely at 24 weeks. The couple are heartbroken.
Sarah and Dylan’s strength in this difficult time is admirable. They are working hard to honor and remember their son. Many Bachelor fans and fellow alums offered their support.

“On January 28th, at 24 weeks old, our beautiful son Oliver Brown was born. He passed away in his dad’s arms shortly after,” Sarah and Dylan’s announcement began. Sarah’s post also included a carousel of photos that included highlights of her pregnancy and sad moments in the hospital. One photo shows Sarah crying while Dylan comforts her by kissing her on the forehead.

Sarah attempted to put into words the deep grief she is feeling, but sometimes words fail. “There are no words for the magnitude of loss and pain we’re experiencing. It’s beautiful and simultaneously tragic. He had my nose and his dad’s mouth and long fingers,” she said.

Sarah and Dylan were open with fans about their difficult IVF journey. The whole situation seems so cruel. “Oliver, our IVF miracle defied so many odds and fought through so many hard milestones to be here, but the higher powers still had other plans for the three of us,” Sarah mused, remaining positive.

“Our time together was short, but we are grateful for the days we had with Oliver in my belly. He has taught us so much about the integrity of life, love and death. Oliver filled our home and hearts with so much love and most importantly, optimism,” Sarah continued.

“We love you so much, baby boy. You will never be replaced. You are so perfect and awesome,” Sarah concluded. She signed her post “love, Mommy and Daddy.” Sarah and Dylan's resilience is a testament to the human spirit.

Sarah’s fellow Bachelor alums rallied to her side and uplifted her in the comments.

"Oliver you are so loved ❤️ Sarah you are the most amazing mother and your strength through everything to fight so hard for your son has been nothing less than beautiful to witness 🙏🏼," wrote Clare Crawley.

"I'm so sorry, Sarah. Words don't even do justice. Praying for you both for the days ahead. Oliver only knew love & he himself IS love. 💙," wrote Raven Gates.

Sarah underwent a year of IVF treatments to get pregnant with Oliver. She announced her pregnancy in September 2022. She told People magazine at the time, "After a year-long IVF journey, we are over the moon to confirm that our most recent embryo transfer was a success and I am pregnant with a baby boy! Dylan and I know the road ahead is long, but we are cautiously optimistic. We are so grateful for our fertility doctor, Dr. Aimee Eyvazzadeh who has helped make this a reality.”
