Tragic Details Of Kirstie Alley's Death Emerge As Star's Death Certificate Is Revealed

Almost a month after Kirstie Alley died, the star's death certificate has revealed further details about her health battle.

The news of the iconic actress's death was first announced by her children, William True Stevenson, and Lillie Stevenson, via a statement across all of Alley's social media accounts.

The pair wrote that they were "sad to inform [fans] that our incredible, fierce and loving mother has passed away after a battle with cancer, only recently discovered.

"She was surrounded by her closest family and fought with great strength, leaving us with a certainty of her never-ending joy of living and whatever adventures lie ahead."

They continued: "As iconic as she was on screen, she was an even more amazing mother and grandmother," later adding that Alley had a "zest and passion for life, her children, grandchildren and her many animals, not to mention her eternal joy of creating, were unparalleled and leave us inspired to live life to the fullest just as she did."

As per Us Weekly, the 71-year-old was cremated after she passed away earlier this month following a secret battle with colon cancer.

According to her death certificate which was obtained by the outlet on Thursday, the Cheers alum was receiving treatment at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Florida before she died at her home in Clearwater, Florida on December 5.

It was also reported that the Church of Scientology, of which Alley was an avid follower, was said to be planning a memorial service at Flag Building, often referred to as the Super Power Building, which is its main headquarters in Clearwater.

Following the heartbreaking news, Alley's fellow Look Who's Talking co-star, and long-term friend, John Travolta paid tribute to his on-screen lover.

Taking to Instagram, the 68-year-old posted a two-part carousel dedicated to the late actress.

Alongside the photos was a heartfelt caption that emphasized Travolta's love for Alley: "Kirstie was one of the most special relationships I’ve ever had."

"I love you Kirstie. I know we will see each other again," he added.

Other industry figures also left their heartfelt tributes at the time too.

Jamie Lee Curtis also took to Instagram to express her sadness about the 71-year-old's death.

"I've just heard the sad news that Kirstie Alley has died," she wrote. "She was a great comic foil in @tvscreamqueens and a beautiful mama bear in her very real life.

"She helped me buy onesies for my family that year for Christmas. We agreed to disagree about some things but had a mutual respect and connection. Sad news," she concluded.

Sister Sister star Jackée Harry described Alley as "one of a kind."

"Whether you agreed with her or not, Kirstie Alley was an undeniable talent who brought joy to many – through the screen and with her warm, hilarious spirit. RIP, luv. You were one of a kind," she wrote.
