A homeless dad has devastatingly revealed that every night he cries himself to sleep in the back of his car after hitting rock bottom.

As reported by Birmingham Live, Shane Blackwell is a former chef who moved into his vehicle ten weeks ago after his previous relationship broke down.

The 39-year-old is from London but now resides in the West Midlands where he has no relationships with other people and has camped up in his small motor amid the freezing temperatures.

Sadly, while other families will be celebrating Christmas on Sunday, Blackwell - who has a five-year-old son - will be parked at the side of the road.

The former chef quit his well-paid job due to his PTSD. He explained that he struggles to sleep during the weather conditions and that even sleeping pills have been no help.

While he has managed to get through the freezing weather in the country without getting ill, he doesn't know how much longer he can keep his car running on fuel.

Speaking about being alone on Christmas, the father said he would've spent that day with his child however due to an undisclosed reason, he'll have to spend it in his car.

According to the outlet, Blackwell has thankfully received help from Salma Food Bank, which is an emergency food bank in Smethwick - so has been able to attain sustenance amid his ordeal. He also shared that he is hoping to claim benefits.

Despite the former culinarian's heartbreaking living situation, every time he reaches out to the council he is told that his troubles are not at the top of the priority list.

Therefore, he can only afford to use the remaining money he received from his previous pay cheque to put some fuel in his vehicle.

Due to this, Blackwell's worried friends in London have helped him sign up for Universal Credit, which is a monthly payment to help with the living costs of those living in the UK who are eligible for it.

He said that he doesn't want his friends to stress about his situation as they have families of their own, so he will be living in his car until he can hopefully get back on his feet.
