After watching the new season of Dead To Me, fans are calling for Christina Applegate to win an Emmy for her incredible performance.

The third and final installment of the hit Netflix show premiered on Thursday (November 17), and since then, fans haven't been able to stop talking about it.

With the season spanning over 10 episodes, we were taken on an emotional ride with Jen (played by Applegate) and Judy (played by Linda Cardellini) as they make one final effort to escape the law following the death of Steve, Judy’s ex-fiancé.

However, a dramatic crash during the finale of season two saw the best friends end up in the hospital and some heart-stopping revelations really put their friendship to the test.

While there's been a lot of talk about the latest season online, there has been one consistent theme at the forefront of the conversation: Christina Applegate's remarkable performance.

Fans were delighted to see Applegate throughout season three - especially given her multiple sclerosis diagnosis last year. For a while, there was speculation about whether or not the 50-year-old would be continuing her Dead To Me journey until the end of the season, but her determination and love for the job spurred her on.

During an interview with The New York Times, the Crash Pad actress outlined how her MS diagnosis affected the filming of the latest season.

"I had an obligation to Liz and to Linda, to our story," she said, despite show bosses apparently wanting to cease filming when she started receiving treatment.

"If people hate it, if people love it, if all they can concentrate on is, ‘Ooh, look at the cripple,’ that’s not up to me," she added. "But hopefully people can get past it and just enjoy the ride and say goodbye to these two girls."

And it's no surprise that fans absolutely loved it, so much so that they're calling for Applegate to win an Emmy for her work.

"Give Christina Applegate an Emmy, already. I’m 1 episode into Season 3 Dead to Me. She deserved it for the first 2 seasons, but what she went through to make this season, amazing actress!" Wrote one Twitter user.

"Give Christina Applegate her Emmy," another agreed.

"I only got one episode in to dead to me s3 so far but if this really is Christina Applegate’s last role, we’re gonna get her that Emmy," a third added.

Others also commended her co-star, Linda Cardellini, for her amazing performance too, with some even adding that they both deserve the Emmy next year.

"Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini both need to be nominated at the Emmy's for outstanding lead actress in a comedy series and they both need to tie and win it together," said this user, while another asked how they could "fix" the award so that they both can have it.

The news comes just days after Applegate received an honor that all TV and movie stars dream of; a prestigious star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

"I've had a really interesting life, but the life started as a little girl waiting in line to see the first Star Wars on this very street at that very theater," she said during her speech at the historical landmark.

"And looking at these things and going, 'Who are these people? What are these things? Did they do something right? Did they do something wrong? Whatever it is, I want one. I effing want one.' And I was five years old, so this day means more to me than you can possibly imagine."

Season three of Dead To Me is available to watch on Netflix.
