Teenage Girl Charged In Deadly Beating Of New York City Cab Driver Kutin Gyimah

A 13-year-old girl has been arrested in connection with a deadly assault on a New York City cab driver. The arrest occurred on Tuesday, August 23, 2022, for charges of gang assault and theft of services. The teen girl remains unidentified because she is a minor.
On August 13, 2022, at around 6:30 a.m., 52-year-old cab driver Kutin Gyimah was dropping off five passengers on the corner of Beach 54 Street and Arverne Boulevard. This area is known as the Rockaways in Queens. The passengers attempted to skip out on paying, and Gyimah chased them down.

This is when things turned deadly for Gyimah. The passengers attacked him. Twenty-year-old Austin Amos allegedly struck the blow that caused Gyimah to fall to the ground and hit his head. It was this head trauma that caused Gyimah’s death.

Amos has been charged with manslaughter. Twenty-year-old Nickolas Porter and an unidentified 16-year-old have been charged with robbery and assault. Police are still attempting to charge another female suspect.

Gyimah was a husband and a father. He had four young children, ages 8, 7, 5, and 3. A GoFundMe page has been established by his former employer to help his family in this difficult time. It describes Gyimah as “a well-respected hard-working driver who was always a pleasure to be around. Throughout the Pandemic he never stopped driving and serving the citizens of New York City. He took his job as an essential worker very seriously.”
