Kate Moss Is Expected To Testify In Support Of Johnny Depp Despite Old Tales Of Violence

Johnny Depp and Amber Heard are still in Fairfax, Virginia, where the two have been locked in a bitter defamation lawsuit and countersuit. The pair have each called a number of witnesses to the stand, and Depp's legal team recently announced that his ex-girlfriend Kate Moss will be added to the roster.
Moss wasn't originally expected to take the stand but has been added after Heard mentioned a rumor involving violence between Depp and Moss.
Kate Moss dated Johnny Depp in the 1990s when she was 20 and he was 31 years old. Moss hasn't spoken about their relationship too often, but what she has said indicates that she regrets that the relationship ended.
Lawyer Mitra Ahouraian told the New York Post that Heard is the reason why Moss will testify. As she put it, "That’s one mistake that [Heard] made, was bringing up Kate Moss, which potentially opened the door to [Depp’s team] bringing [Moss] on as an impeachment witness — and Moss saying 'This never happened.'"
In 2012, Moss told Vanity Fair, "There’s nobody that’s ever really been able to take care of me. Johnny did for a bit. I believed what he said. Like if I said, ‘What do I do?,’ he’d tell me. And that’s what I missed when I left. I really lost that gauge of somebody I could trust."
In 1994, Depp reportedly caused £8,000 in damage to a hotel room he and Moss were sharing. The model was said to be asleep throughout the assault on the room, and Depp offered to pay for what he tore up.
The defamation trial is currently expected to end on May 27, 2022, and some expect that Moss could be a key witness for the Depp team. Depp has sued Heard for $50 million after she wrote an op-ed that he believes is about him; in response, Heard countersued for $100 million.
