Depp's team claims he lost out on potential earnings after 36-year-old Heard referred to herself as a "public figure representing domestic abuse" in an op-ed she wrote for The Washington Post back in 2018.
Although Depp was not mentioned by name in the op-ed, his lawyers claim it was about him and subsequently resulted in him losing work. Depp has repeatedly denied the allegations that he was physically violent toward his ex-wife.
Heard is countersuing for $100 million - claiming she was only ever violent against Depp in self-defense or in defense of her younger sister, per NBC News, and for comments made by Adam Waldman, Depp's former lawyer.
On Friday (May 27), lawyers from both sides were able to deliver their closing arguments in the case.

One of Depp's attorneys, Ben Chew, told the jury: "You have now come to know the real Amber Heard. Scary."
Chew added that Depp "does not deserve to have his life and legacy destroyed by a vicious lie", before adding: "To tarnish him as an abuser, is to destroy him in the eyes of many of these [fans], who will never look at him the same way again."

"This case is about telling you his story and the truth about what really happened," Chew continued: "It's about restoring his reputation. It's about showing Mr. Depp's children, Lily-Rose and Jack, that the truth is worth fighting for."
Meanwhile, in the rebuttal, attorney Camille Vasquez slammed Heard's "performance" in the courtroom, telling the jury: "Her story is a constantly moving target, it never stays the same."
Vasquez then pleaded with the jury to "give Johnny his life back".
When both Chew and Vasquez returned to take their seats next to Depp, fans noticed the actor embrace both of his lawyers - giving them a hug.
