Here Are The Most Damning Claims Amber Heard Made About Johnny Depp At Their Trial

The defamation trial between Amber Heard and Johnny Depp has been raging for some weeks now, since April 12, to be exact.

Early on in the trial, 58-year-old Depp, who brought the case against his 36-year-old ex-wife, was given a chance to testify against her.

He claims he was the real victim in their relationship, alleging that he endured physical and emotional abuse at the hands of the Aquaman star.

Depp maintains that he was defamed by Heard in a 2018 op-ed she wrote for The Washington Post, in which he was not named. He says despite not being named, the piece surreptitiously accuses him of abusing his former partner - something which he denies.

On Wednesday, May 4, Heard took the witness stand for the first time in the heated trial. Her claims about her relationship with Depp were nothing short of damning. She testified further the following day.

The Pineapple Express star recounted for the jury the first time her then-husband allegedly hit her. She said it happened early on in their relationship, after she asked Depp to explain what the "faded" tattoo on his arm was.

The actress told the court: "He said it said, 'Wino'. I thought he was joking and laughed, it was that simple, I laughed as I thought he was joking and he slapped me across the face and I laughed because I didn’t know what else to do. I thought this must be a joke.

"I didn’t know what was going on. I just stared at him, kind of just laughing still, thinking he would start laughing to tell me it was a joke. He said 'You think it’s funny b****, you think you’re a funny b****?' and he slapped me again and it was clear it was not a joke anymore."

Heard also claimed Depp performed a "cavity search" on her. She said he "ripped" a part of her dress and then "[ripped] my underwear off."

"He proceeds to do a cavity search, he was looking for his drugs," she said.

Expanding on claims made by her legal counsel that Depp sexually assaulted her with a liquor bottle, she said: "I could feel this pressure on my pubic bone."

She said it "looked like" Depp was "punching" her, adding that there were "broken bottles, broken glass" all over the room.

Heard also claimed she was too scared to move "because I didn’t know if it was broken, I didn’t know if the bottle that he had inside me was broken."

"I couldn’t feel it, I couldn’t feel pain," she said, adding that she could remember thinking, "Please God, I hope it’s not broken."

The actress also alleged that during a particularly explosive argument, she thought Depp was "going to kill" her.

She said: "I could just hear him say that he was going to kill me," adding: "I don’t know how many times, he just hit me over and over again and I got really still and it felt in my body like quiet. And I thought 'this is how I die, he is going to kill me now' he is going to kill me and he won’t even have realized it."

One of Heard's many other allegations centred around Depp's now 22-year-old daughter, Lily-Rose.

She claims Depp introduced Lily-Rose to weed when she was just 14 years old, saying: "The introduction of the weed with his daughter, she was so young, I felt protective. It's not my place and I made him really angry by weighing in on that."

A break from trial proceedings was announced on Thursday, May 6, the case is set resume on Monday, May 16, with Heard returning to the stand.
