Amber Heard's Makeup Artist Says She Covered Up Actress' Bruises For James Corden Show

Amber Heard's former makeup artist testified on Wednesday and explained how she helped cover up the actress' bruises for her appearance on The Late Late Show With James Corden in 2015.

58-year-old Depp is suing Heard, 36, for $50 million in a defamation lawsuit, claiming she ruined his reputation and career by saying she had been a victim of domestic violence in a 2018 Washington Post op-ed.

Heard is opposing the lawsuit, countersuing for $100 million, and spent several days on the stand describing multiple incidents where she said Depp was physically and sexually abusive. He continues to deny the accusations.

Per Insider, The Danish Girl actress claims she sustained injuries in an alleged fight with Depp on December 15, 2015. She was slated to appear on James Corden's show the very next day.

Heard's former makeup artist, Melanie Inglessis, told the courtroom in a February 2021 recorded deposition that the Aquaman star had injuries when she arrived at her penthouse to do her makeup for the talk show.

She described what sort of damage the actress had displayed on her face: "She had two light - I'm not a medical expert - but it looked like somebody had head-butted her lightly so she had discoloration here under both eyes and the bridge of the nose and she had what I would call a split lip or something on the lip like a gash or split lip."

The makeup artist also explained how she worked to cover Heard's split lip and blue bruises: "I just did makeup, just a little heavier," she said. "We covered the discoloration or bruises with a slightly heavier concealer, one that had more of a peach undertone that I would normally not use on Amber, but peach does cancel blue, so I did that under the eyes."

She then discussed the split lip, stating: "Though Amber always has a red lip, it's one of her signature looks, I remember clearly talking we had no other option that night than to use a red blood, like, a really red lipstick to make sure we could cover up the injuries on the lip."

Heard reiterated this in her own testimony earlier in the trial when she revealed that her makeup artist used heavier makeup to cover her bruises.

The Rum Diary actress also accused Depp of ripping a piece of her hair out during a row. When shown a photograph of the actress' scalp, Inglessis said, "I remember this because she showed it to us."

The makeup artist specified that she had never witnessed the Fantastic Beasts star physically assault Heard, but she occasionally applied a gel on Heard's face to help reduce swelling.
