Depp's lawyers questioned Spiegel's ability to reach his conclusions without having had direct contact with the 58-year-old Hollywood star. The psychiatrist acknowledged that he never interviewed the actor directly but drew conclusions from reviewing his depositions and other materials in the case.
Spiegel also testified in court that the actor's alleged use of an earpiece while filming may be a sign of memory decline from excessive substance and alcohol abuse.

"Dr. Spiegel needs looking into after today's performance! He looks and sounds like he is the one who needs psychiatric help," one of the one-star reviews said.
Another review said: "Called my boyfriend Johnny a stupid pirate."
The psychiatrist's Google page was also bombarded with unfavorable reviews, as pointed out by NBC News reporter Kat Tenbarge on Twitter.

One user wrote: "Honestly the 'doctor' seems iffy and scary! And not because I'm a Johnny Depp supporter. [It's] because listening to him and his vibe [is] SCARY!!!"
Another commented under his page: "This doctor should be avoided at all times because he has been unprofessional, unpleasant to work with. He has misdiagnosed multiple people with the slightest hint of regret and acts like he [knows] everything. He should be avoided at all times."
Most of the one-star reviews on his Google page appear to have been deleted but a couple of negative comments remain regarding the defamation case.
The defamation trial between Depp and Heard is now in its sixth and final week at the courthouse in Fairfax, Virginia.
The Edwards Scissorhands star is suing 36-year-old Heard for $50 million, accusing her of ruining his career and reputation by insinuating that she's a domestic abuse victim in an op-ed published by The Washington Post in 2018.
The Aquaman star is countersuing her ex-husband for $100 million, claiming she was only ever violent against Depp in self-defense or defense of her younger sister, per NBC News.
