Amber Heard Releases Statement After Two Days Of Testimony: 'The Team Is So Panicked'

Amber Heard has released a powerful statement following two days of harrowing testimony against her ex-husband, Johnny Depp. Depp is suing Heard for defamation in a $50 million lawsuit that some believe is nothing more than a thinly veiled revenge plot.

Depp alleges that Heard defamed him in a 2018 op-ed about her experience as a survivor of domestic violence. Heard never named names, and in November 2020 a judge in the UK ruled that it was fair to call Depp a "wife beater" in reports.

After testifying to a multitude of horrific acts of violence she alleges were inflicted on her body by Depp, Heard and her legal team first pointed out, from their point of view, Depp's team is doing little to disprove he's been defamed at all.

They write, "As evidenced by the statement just released, Mr. Depp's defamation claim is falling apart so rapidly that his counsel are turning from prosecutor to persecutor."

Heard's team then picked apart Depp's team's claims that his story has remained the same the entire time, pointing out that this is a curious thing to be proud of when he has already lost the case in the UK.

"They boast that Mr. Depp's story has not changed. If so, since he lost the Domestic Violence Restraining Order and he resoundingly lost the libel case in the UK, perhaps he should consider a new strategy rather than the recycled approach of attacking the victim, and refusing to take responsibility for his own conduct."

Heard's team next went after Depp's numerous apologies and admission of guilt that they claim he gave to Heard, noting, "If Mr. Depp was truly innocent, why has he repeatedly apologized to Ms. Heard and promised to put the 'monster away for good.'"

Then, perhaps in reference to Depp's legal's team numerous and seemingly constant objections to anything and everything on May 5, 2022, Heard's team continues, "That same team is so panicked they are fighting tooth and nail to prevent compelling evidence and photos from being introduced."

The statement continues by calling out the behavior Heard's team noticed throughout her testimony. "Small wonder Mr. Depp does not have the fortitude or courage to even look at Ms. Heard at all throughout the proceedings — as he could not in the UK trial — and, instead he doodles and snickers."
Her statement concludes, "Mr. Depp's behavior in this trial has been as pitiful as it was in their marriage. Apparently, they feel they must double-down on their demonstrably losing two-part strategy: distract the jury and demonize the victim."

Johnny Depp also released his own statement about the case.
