Judge Says Lori Vallow Is Mentally Fit To Stand Trial For Allegedly Murdering 2 Children

A judge has declared Lori Vallow is mentally fit to stand trial for murder.
Vallow faces charges in the death of her children, JJ and Tylee. She also stands accused of murdering her fourth husband, Charles Vallow.

Vallow was committed to a psychiatric ward in June 2021. But now, Judge Steven Boyce is ready to move forward. He says she is "restored to competency and fit to proceed." She will be moved from an Idaho Department of Health and Welfare facility to a Fremont County jail.

Vallow is scheduled to be arraigned later this month.

Last May, after a search for her children resulted in the worst case scenario — two dead bodies — both Lori Vallow and her husband Chad Daybell were indicted on charges of conspiracy to commit murder and first-degree murder in their deaths. But Vallow was deemed unfit to stand trial. She was committed to a psychiatric ward in June.

Chad Daybell's former wife, Tammy Daybell, also mysteriously died in October 2019. Police exhumed her body from a cemetery in Springville, Utah, in December of the same year, as part of the investigation.

Prosecutors say that now that Vallow is competent, she will be charged with conspiracy to commit murder in all four cases.
