Nicolas Cage's New Film Gets Ultra Rare 100% Score On Rotten Tomatoes With Rave Reviews

Nicolas Cage's utterly bonkers new movie is getting rave reviews. The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent sees the Face Off star play a warped version of himself. Watch the trailer below:

With his career going down the pan, Cage begrudgingly accepts an offer to attend the birthday party of a 'superfan' (Pedro Pascal), however, he soon comes to realise that all isn't quite what it seems and that he is in a whole lot of bother.

The storyline requires the actor to have two roles – one as a down-and-out struggling actor trying to return to his glory days, and another as his younger self from when he was a huge star.

The official synopsis says: "Nicolas Cage stars as... Nick Cage in the action-comedy The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent.

"Creatively unfulfilled and facing financial ruin, the fictionalized version of Cage must accept a $1 million offer to attend the birthday of a dangerous superfan.

"Things take a wildly unexpected turn when Cage is recruited by a CIA operative and forced to live up to his own legend, channeling his most iconic and beloved on-screen characters in order to save himself and his loved ones.

"With a career built for this very moment, the seminal award-winning actor must take on the role of a lifetime: Nick Cage."

The movie is set to land in cinemas from next month, but has already wowed critics who have seen it.

It's even received a whopping 100 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.

"There’s something for everyone in The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent. It’s one of the funniest movies of the year," wrote one.

Praising Cage's performance, another chimed said: "This is first and foremost the Nicolas Cage show, and as both the past and present star that he is, Cage is perfect in the role of his life – literally."

But while the critics are loving the flick, one man who won't be watching it anytime soon is Cage himself.

Speaking to Collider, he said it's not his thing.

"I'm never going to see that movie," he told the site. "But it's just too much of a whacked-out trip for me to go to a movie theater and watch me play Tom Gormican's highly-neurotic, anxiety-ridden version of me."

Cage continued: "[Tom] kept pushing me in that direction. I said, 'Tom, that's not really me. I'm really [made of] quiet, meditative, thoughtful moments. I'm not this neurotic, high-strung, anxiety-ridden guy all the time'.

"But he said, 'Well, neurotic Cage is the best Cage'.

"I said, 'Okay, okay. Let's go, man. I'll do what you want'.

"I won't see it. But I do hope you enjoy it."

The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent is due to hit cinemas on 22 April 2022.
