Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher speak about war in Ukraine, will match $3 million in donations for refugees

Days after Ashton Kutcher showed his support for Ukraine, he and his wife Mila Kunis have announced their plans to match up to $3 million in donations to help refugees fleeing Ukraine.

“While we are witnessing the bravery of Ukrainians, we are also bearing witness to the unimaginable burden of those who have chosen safety. Countless amounts of people have left everything they know and love behind to seek refuge. With nothing but what they could carry, these Ukrainian refugees are in need of housing and supplies right away,” Kunis said.

Kunis, 38, was born Chernivtsi, Ukraine in 1983, but came to the United States with her family in 1991.

In July 2016, Kunis described to Conan host Conan O’Brien the moment her parents moved them to the U.S. for a better life but told them they were moving “up the street.”

She quickly discovered they weren’t moving up the street. Suddenly they were on a train, and then a plane to the United States.

The actress said she didn’t know anything about her new home and didn’t speak English, which made it difficult because she arrived in Los Angeles just days before she started school.

Now, she and her husband are urging others to step up and help those fleeing from war.

Kunis and Kutcher shared a video on Instagram asking Kutcher’s 4.4 millions followers to support “the needs of those who have chosen safety.”

The couple teamed up with GoFundMe to raise money for and Both organizations are on the ground actively working to help Ukrainians flee the eastern European country.

“Ukrainians are proud and brave people who deserve our help in their time of need. This unjust attack on Ukraine and humanity at large is devastating and the Ukrainian people need our support,” Kunis said.

So far they have raised $3.4 million.

Days earlier Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds also pledged to match $1 million in donations to Ukrainian refugees.
