In a video shared around of Twitter, a group of small children, probably around 5 or so, watch through a fence as a construction worker goes about their job of shoveling dirt. Each time they move the dirt, the children scream “yay!”.
Yes, that is all. But it is the wholesome energy that we all need in our lives: it needs to be seen by as many people as possible. Perhaps you are metaphorically shoveling today, grinding through Victoria’s lockdown or the general dumps of 2020.
Let the yays lift you up — this is better than Chris Hemsworth offering affirmations for 51 seconds, as the children are not trying to create ‘uplifting COVID content’ or promote their brand. They just enjoy the shoveling, and want to share the appreciation.
You probably don’t have someone fawning over your chore completion or just getting out of bed, but let it be known that somewhere in the world a small child would be amazed by what you have done. Maybe even a small school of them.
To paraphrase Oprah, they are the mother I never had, the sisters everybody would want, the friends that everybody deserves. I don’t know a better group of people.
