Ed Sheeran Says ‘South Park’ Episode Mocking ‘Ginger’ Hair ‘Ruined My Life’

Ed Sheeran has said an episode of South Park ‘ruined' his life after it made fun of ginger hair.

The red-headed singer said until that episode aired in 2005, people in the US didn’t make fun of his hair colour - but once it was released it was a very different story.

In the episode, titled Ginger Kids, Cartman believes he’s been struck down with ‘gingervitis’ and refers to carrying the ginger gene as a ‘curse’.

Speaking on Slam Radio Sheeran explained: “Having red hair in England was always a thing that people took the p*** out of you for. But it was never something in America. People never knew what a ginger was in America.

“That episode of South Park f***ing ruined my life. I was going to America and everyone was like, ‘I love your hair dude.’ And I was like, ‘Oh my God, people like my hair?’

“And then I remember that episode coming out and that was just it worldwide for the rest of my life.”

However, he went on to say he’s got no hard feelings against the cartoon and even said he’d love to voice a character one day.

Last month, the singer revealed he sang at Tilly Ramsay’s 18th birthday bash in return from cooking lessons from dad Gordon. Not a bad deal.

Sheeran said he was asked by the famous chef if he’d be willing to sing at the party but rather than suggest a hefty fee, instead asked for a skill swap.

The Sun reports that Sheeran spoke about the occasion on a US radio show, where he explained: “I don’t like people saying, ‘Hey here is a chunk of money, come and play two songs at this,’ whether it be a wedding or whatever.

“What happened was he emailed me and said, ‘What would the fee be?’

“And I said, ‘You know what? Why I don’t trade your skill for my skill.

“You come around and give me a cooking lesson and I’ll play your daughter’s 18th.’”

Sheeran added: “He came around and taught me and my wife how to cook beef wellington and apple tarte tatin.

“It was a posh apple pie and it was really nice.”
