Owner Blows Up His Tesla In Protest At Having To Get Replacement Battery

A man decided to detonate his Tesla Model S to protest against the hefty cost of a new battery. Watch the shocking footage below:

Notably, an effigy with Elon Musk’s face on it was also incinerated inside the car.

Tuomas Katainen made the bold decision to blow up his 2012 edition of his white Model S after a battery failure meant he was faced with a whopping bill of £17,000.

Instead of taking it upon himself to do the dirty work, the 26-year-old contacted the local YouTube Pommijätkät 'bombers channel', who like blowing things up.

The YouTubers then opted to strap his motor with sticks of dynamite.

Tuomas was the one who pressed a button and blew the car to pieces.

The Tesla was exploded in Tuomas' native town of Jyväskylä, Finland, in the snowy conditions.

As shown in the clip, the explosion causes a huge Dragon Ball Z style fireball.

In the Pommijätkät Youtube video, Tuomas said: “When I bought that Tesla, the first 1,500km were nice, it was an excellent car so far.

"The error code hit in, so I ordered a tow truck to take my car in a service.

“So the car was about a month in a Tesla dealer's workshop and finally I got a call that they can't do anything for my car, the only option is to change the whole battery cell.

“The cost would be at least €20,000 (£17,000) and permission for the operation has to be asked from Tesla.

“So I told them that I'm going to explode the whole car away because apparently there was no guarantee or anything.”

Before denoting the motor, he joked: “So now we are in a point where there is bombs attached on a car and Tesla is ready to go.”

The Tesla S model 2012 cost between about £37,000 to £67,000 when it was released.

Musk, 50, has recently sold a slew of shares in Tesla, but he remains the largest single shareholder.
