3-year-old asks to help ring the groceries. Cashier obliges, leaving Mom in tears

A routine trip to the grocery store became an unforgettable memory for a little boy and his mother.
Earlier this week, while shopping at a Meijer supermarket, Kimberly Grandinette and her 3-year-old son were waiting in Kristen C’s checkout line. While chatting with one another, Kimberly told Kristen about her infant son who is in the hospital.
According to a post Kimberly shared on Facebook,
“I was telling the cashier (Kristen C) that my infant son is in the hospital right now and that my three year old is having a pretty rough time with all of the changes in routine and changes at home it is causing. Then my three year old asked Kristen if he could help her ring our groceries. She looked at my son and said, ‘Certainly’ and brought him behind the register with her.”
Kristen proceeded to hold the little boy while Kimberly took a quick photo of the two. She later posted a heartfelt and touching message on Meijer supermarket’s Facebook page. She used the picture as a way to show the brand how much Kristen’s gesture meant to both her and her son.
“She was so patient with him as she let him help her scan the coupons and she made him feel like a million bucks. He skipped out of the store with a smile on his face. Thank you, Kristen, for making my son’s day (and my day!) a bit brighter. Merry Christmas!!”
Since being posted on December 13 ,the post has garnered 150,000 likes and over 10,000 shares.
It’s truly wonderful to see people like Kimberly go above and beyond to highlight gestures and acts of kindness that people do for us on a daily basis.
This just goes to show how much impact a small act of kindness can have!
