Frankly, this dedication might be hard for dog-less humans to understand. How could you value time with a nonverbal creature that occasionally vomits on your valuables more than time with a fellow human?
...Clearly, those people have a lot to learn. So it's our job as fur parents (if that's the correct term) to stand up for our pups. And one woman from Gurgaon in India has become our new poster woman.
Meet our new hero, Karishma Walia.

She works for Deloitte India and is a loving dog owner to her fur-baby, Lucy. If social media is any indication of things, the two are inseparable. They have lots of adorable pictures together, and Lucy even has her own Facebook.
While Walia was recently in discussions about an arranged marriage with a man from a wealthy family in New Delhi, she was forced to call the whole thing off when her potential husband-to-be voiced a problem with her beloved pup.
"Please marry the dog in that case," he suggests. This B'lore girl rejected a guy cuz he doesn't like dogs & wouldn't want one after marriage. U go girl! #TrueStory pic.twitter.com/N4NW6U8IiJ— Not Monika (@blahfamous) September 13, 2016
...Dude, that sounds way better than her alternative here.
Unfortunately, Walia's decision has been harder for her family to understand. "My mom thought he’s an excellent match because he’s good-looking and well-off," she told BuzzFeed. "There was a lot of family pressure, and they still think I did the wrong thing by raising the concern about my dog."
But let's be real. Dogs > marriage, every time.
"He would say things like 'family should be a priority and not career,'" Walia said. "I gave up when he commented about my dog. I don’t know why my family still thinks he’s an eligible bachelor."
And it sounds like Walia totally gave the guy a chance. "I have been talking to him for over a week now. I spoke to him couple of times more, and he pissed me off with the way he was enforcing his decisions on me," she said.
Gotta draw the line when he makes an unacceptable comment about your dog. Yaaas, girl.
I mean, who would you choose?
We hope that Karishma and Lucy find the man of their collective dreams
