A 10-year-old boy is being praised for his incredible act of kindness towards a young cancer patient.
Around two-years-ago, Thomas Moore, from Maryland, saw his mum watching a video about a five-year-old girl who had lost all her hair during chemotherapy, reports The Telegraph.
Moved by what he saw, Thomas decided he wanted to do something to help the girl and decided to grow his hair long so he could donate it to the young cancer patient.
Speaking to Buzzfeed, Thomas’s aunt, Amber Lynne said:my nephew grew his hair out for two years to donate to kids with cancer 😭 pic.twitter.com/YuamNNcMEI— amber lynne (@storkpatrol) September 11, 2016
He didn’t set a time frame for how long he would grow his hair for, he just wanted it to be long enough to make the girl feel happy.
It started off just fine when his hair was shorter, but as the afro grew, they had to cornrow it to keep it nice and tame. And now, two years later, Thomas has finally had his hair cut, providing enough hair to make three wigs for children with cancer.
Sadly though, Kyssi Andrews – the young girl who inspired Thomas in the first place – has passed away, but her mother, Maria, praised Thomas.
She wrote on Facebook:
To know that my sweet angel Kyssi is still an inspiration, even in her absence from the earth makes me one proud mom.Thomas’s own mother Angilea Pulos, also took to social media to praise her son.
Myyyy baby! I’m so proud of him! He’s breathing all hard and smiling so BIG right now!!!And she’s not the only one. According to Mashable retired NBA player Derek Anderson’s foundation has given Thomas an ‘Acts of Kindness’ award in recognition of his efforts.
What an inspirational little man!
