Good News Everyone, Beer Is Going To Get Cheaper

Whatever your stance on Britain's decision to leave the European Union, you have to admit that it's all been a bit doom and gloom since June 23. Promises that were made in the run up seem to have been 'mistakes' and no one really knows what the future holds.

But, while, I can't tell you what the post-Brexit future holds, I can bring you a little bit of good news. Well, it is good news if you like cheaper booze, anyway.

That is because, today, the minister for trade, Steven Ciobo, has said that he reckons he can get us a better deal on alcohol once we've left the EU.
Wine Australia, which is an actual government body, has already announced that by scrapping the EU import duty the UK can save between 10p and 15p per litre of wine.

Now, I know that doesn't sound like much, but give me a break. I'm looking for a silver-lining here and saving myself 10p next time I pick up a cheap four pack might just be that silver-lining. If I buy a few, saving 10p on each, I'll be able to get myself a Fredo with the savings.

Hopefully this is the start of something bigger and we'll be able to buy buckets of vodka for 14p* in two-and-a-half years.

*Please drink your buckets of booze responsibly.
