As evidenced by the myriad goofy videos of children out there, we all know that kids say the funniest things. Often it has to do with their lack of filter; sometimes, though, it's clear that their sense of humor seems to be wound all the way through their DNA. A recent genetic study published in Emotion, a scientific journal published by the American Psychological Association, revealed that scientists have found that people with short-allele variants of the gene 5-HTTLPR more commonly experience genuine laughing and smiling, along with a general sense of humor. It's still down to a combination of nature and nurture, though; while the short allele makes people more prone to these things, it isn't all there is to humor.
