Great Britain Have Beaten China To Finish Second In Medal Table

Well, what can I say? It's been an incredible two weeks of sport over in Rio. Team GB have done enough to secure second in the medal table with China now not being able to overtake.

As expected, GB were on top form and after the women's 4x400m relay bronze medal was won last night, it tipped the medal haul one above what was achieved four years ago in London.
Records were smashed in the gymnastics, diving, cycling, golf, sailing, hockey not forgetting to mention track and field events. Put simply, our little island has cleaned up in Rio.

Shortly after Mo Farah retained his 5000m Olympic title, and Nicola Adams won Olympic boxing gold for the second Games in a row, was the 4x400m women's final. The quartet of Eilidh Doyle, Anyika Onuora, Emily Diamond and Christine Ohuruogu secured GB's first 4x400m relay medal since Barcelona 1992 with an impressive 3 minute, 25.88 second race.

The Team GB athletes have now won 66 Olympic medals, 27 of which are gold, at this Games and more is yet to come.

Team GB is guaranteed to reach at least 67 medals before the Olympic flame in the cauldron dies out. That's because Joe Joyce will face France's Tony Yoka later today in the boxing super-heavyweight final.

The weight of the nation is on Joyce's shoulders as he prepares to fight tooth and nail to make the last medal up for grabs a gold.
Oh yeah, and the athlete's celebratory parade will be taking place in Manchester, the Prime Minister has revealed.
Come on Team GB!
