The Latest: Multiple Deaths After Shooting in German Shopping Mall; Munich On Lockdown

Gunfire erupted at a crowded shopping mall in Munich with several dead and many others wounded.
Shooting began at 5:52 P.M. according to the New York Times at a McDonald's near the Olympia-Einkaufszentrum shopping mall. Police immediately ordered citizens to stay away from the area.
"There could be several dead and one or even several shooters are on the loose," police spokeswoman Claudia Küntzel said to CNN.
Gunfire also broke out inside the mall at witnesses report seeing at least three different people carrying firearms.
"The situation is still completely confusing," said deputy police spokesman Thomas Baumann, according to The Times. "It is not clear whether [there] is one or many shooters."
All public transportation systems are on lockdown and police issued a special appeal to citizens telling them to avoid all public places. The gunman may still be at large.
Lynn Stein, an employee within Olympia-Einkaufszentrum, recalled hearing gunshots. "I heard several shots," she told CNN. "People started running. I went outside as well; more people [were] running outside. I think I heard more shots."
She then re-entered the mall to find shelter. "I saw...somebody lying on the floor, presumably dead, or badly hurt. And there's a woman over them, crying."
Germany has been on high terror alert after a 17-year-old attacked passengers on a German subway with an ax before being shot dead by police. ISIS claimed responsibility for the attack, according to CNN.
The Guardian confirms that at least three people have been killed by the shooting in the mall, but the death toll could continue to rise. It is unclear who is responsible for the shooting or if it is connected to any terrorist groups.
Further updates will be made to this story as additional information becomes available.
