These Cheerleaders Stand In Line With Their Heads Bowed. Seconds Later, The Crowd Is Speechless

Over 14 years ago marks a day that most of us, old and young, can deeply resonate with. September 11, 2001 represents a day in history that is critical to the story of our nation. It marks a day of tragedy, as the Twin Towers were destroyed and thousands of lives lost after a terrorist plane crash. It also marks a day that America, all of it, was able to push past differences and unite under a shared belief - we can get through this. Since this tragic event nearly 15 years ago, members of our nation still recall where they were when the crisis happened and pay homage to the bravery of those who lost their lives. However, as time has passed, a post-9/11 generation now seeks to understand the heartbreak and fear emitted from this tragic event. Although they cannot identify with those who experienced this day firsthand, students from Lumberton High School have found a new way to pay respect to all of those who were affected by the events on September 11, 2001.

Set to remarks by President George W. Bush and “God Bless The U.S.A.” by Lee Greenwood, the Lumberton High School cheer team dedicated the following dance routine as a commemoration to the 2001 tragedy. Although the video has received negative backlash from some viewers, arguing that it is insensitive or tasteless, most can agree that the routine is actually very touching and beautifully done. These cheerleaders, who are too young to recall the tragic events of 9/11 themselves, deliver a beautiful and respectful homage to those who are old enough to remember. Check out the video below and let us know what you think about their performance.
