One Twin Is Dead At Birth. When Mom Holds Him To Her Chest, Dad Can't Believe What He Sees

While this amazing story still has doctors scratching their heads, Kate Ogg was definitely onto something. Skin-to-skin contact has benefits that cannot be denied. Also known as "kangaroo care," it was originally used as a way to keep premature babies temperatures up, which helped them continue on the road to health. However, many benefits outside of warmth were noticed. These include stabilized heartbeat and breathing, increased deep sleep, decreased crying, and increased weight gain ... all very important things for babies born early.

While kangaroo care was first prescribed for mother and baby, it's now readily recommended to fathers, too. This close contact offers an intense chance to bond that fathers oftentimes don't otherwise get.
